16 Hours of 1-on-1 Lessons over Zoom BEFORE our first on-location workshop we will have up to 16 hours of 1-on-1 Zoom calls where I will train you for 8-Hours on all the techniques of capturing the Milky Way and then another 8-hours to teach you the Milky Way Planning apps of PhotoPills, Plan It and all the other apps that I use to plan my Milky Way Photography. You will come to our first workshop of 2025 fully equipped with the knowledge you need to do this like the masters of Milky Way Photography!

FOUR Workshops with me in 2025 We will have four workshops together where I can teach you in-person at your tripod on location. Starting with a 7-night workshop with only you and me, two 4-night workshops with groups up to seven other students and a final 5-night workshop at the end of the year with you and only two other students. 7-NIGHT 1-on-1 Workshop in Southern Utah in the Spring We will begin the year with a workshop in Southern Utah where it will be JUST YOU and ME for 7-nights where I can be at your tripod and we can put into practice everything we have been working on through the zoom classes and online courses. We will focus on the techniques of single-image Milky Way, with and without low-level lighting, panorama, stacking, dual-exposure Milky Way where we use different settings for the foreground than we do with the sky, timelapses and MAYBE by the 7th night Star Tracker Milky Way as long as we feel you have mastered the single-image techniques.

TWO 4-NIGHT Group Workshops You will have two workshops where you will join a regular 8-person workshop during the Spring, Summer or Fall. You have your choice of Bisti New Mexico in March, Oregon Coast with Crater Lake included in June, California Sierras where you will visit places like Alabama Hills and Mono Lake in July, or finally an August Oregon Coast adventure where we will be including Thor's Well, Cape Kiwanda and Cannon Beach.

5-NIGHT Three person workshop to end the year In September, you will join my 5-night No-Hiking/No-Driving workshop where we will travel all of Southern Utah wherever the clouds are not. Milky Way in September is vertical and over by midnight making it a perfect finale for the year. Easy nights. No hiking. A chance to focus entirely on Star Tracker Milky Way Photography and put polish on your mastery of all things Milky Way Photography.
- 8-Hours Live Zoom Post-Processing Help After every workshop we will spend two hours over zoom to edit your images from the workshop we just completed. Teaching you the simple techniques of Milky Way editing in Lightroom and pushing into the more complex edits you can do using Photoshop by the time we do Star Tracker Milky Way Photography. NOTE: I say 8-hours but the reality is that we will take the time needed after each workshop to get several images edited. Some sessions might just be 2-hours but some could run into 3-hours. With John in 2024, we have had over 13-hours of Zoom edit time. I promise you that we will get your portfolio where it needs to be to show off all your work with me in 2025!
- My goal is to make sure you can use the apps PhotoPills and Plan-it to come away with a beautiful portfolio of new Milky Way Images by the time you are finished with this Milky Way Master Apprenticeship!

We work together over Zoom to learn the process of planning Milky Way Photography and the techniques of capturing the Milky Way. -
APRIL 25th-May 2nd
7-Night 1-on-1 Workshop in Southern Utah We start out actually up at the Bonneville Salt Flats (unless weather pushes us out) and then hit up Ward Charcoal Kilns on our way to Southern Utah where we will have a litany of great locations to find good weather at where we can put into practice what you have been learning over zoom. Focusing on single-image Milky Way Techniques first with only the slight potential of moving into Star Tracker already BUT only if you have mastered single-image. -
2+ hours of Zoom Post-Processing help
Over zoom, I will work with you to create the final edited version of your images from the 7-night workshop. Beginning a truly fantastic portfolio of Utah Milky Way Photography! -

These are regular 8-student workshops where you will join the group and continue your practice of the techniques I have been teaching you. While there will be other students with us, you will have loads of time with me at your tripod helping you perfect your mastery of Milky Way. -

We will work on editing the images you captured from the workshops you chose to join. -
SEPT 15th-20th
5-Night Southern Utah Workshop
This will be our final on-location instruction for the year. With vertical, early night only Milky Way we will take advantage of our last time working together to strengthen all weaknesses if any that you might have at this point. If nothing else, it will be a chance to add some vertical Milky Way compositions to your already swollen Milky Way Photography portfolio!

Final zoom calls together for the Milky Way Master Apprenticeship where we will put polish to your compositions from September and round out a brilliant portfolio reflecting an amazing year of dedication to learning the craft of Milky Way!
